EMSP-1147-001 Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: Open to any licensed physician, nurse, paramedic or respiratory therapist with a current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BCLS Card

Course Description

Theory and skills necessary for the management of pediatric emergencies as specified by the American Heart Association guidelines. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

Grading Criteria

            AHA Certification Exam  = 75% of final grade

            AHA Skill Performance    = 25% of final grade

The grading scale is as follows:

            A                        =  90% and up

            B                        = 80% - 89%

            C                        = 70% - 79%

            D                        = 60%-69%

            F                        = Below 60%

Students taking this course as Continuing Education with receive a "S" for successful completion or a "U" if unsuccessful.

IMPORTANT:  The AHA requires the student to make an "84 or higher" on the certifiaction exam to successfully complete the course and receive AHA Course Completion Card. Remediation may be available.

Attendance

\ Due to the length of this course 100% attendance is mandatory for the the student to effectively compete for a satisfactory grade and an opportunity to sit for the certification examinations.

\ This course is open to any licensed physician, nurse, paramedic, or respiratory therapist with a current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BCLS card or concurrent enrollment in EMSP 2430, EMSP 2434, and/or EMSP 2444.
