DFTG-1309-001 Basic Computer-Aided Drafting

Prerequisites

Course Description

An introduction to basic computer-aided drafting. Emphasis is placed on drawing setup; creating and modifying geometry; storing and retrieving predefined shapes; placing, rotating and scaling objects; adding text and dimensions; using layers; coordinating systems; as well as input and output devices.

Grading Criteria

ON EACH DRAWING ASSIGNMENT, THE FOLLOWING AREAS WILL BE JUDGED:

1 ACCURACY 

 FOLLOWING INSTRUCTION GIVEN IN CLASS FOR EACH ASSIGNMENT 

 TURNING IN THE ASSIGNMENT ON TIME 

PLOTTING QUALITY 

ONE MID-TERM PERFORMANCE EXAM and one final perfomance project WILL BE GIVEN, THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP TIME FOR THESE projects, AND NO LATE EXAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR 

Grade will be calculated: 50% daily work, 10% mid term, 40% final project/exam

 

Grading criteria

A - 89.5 and above

B - 79.5 to 89.4

C - 69.5 to 79.4

D - 59.5 to 69.4

F - 59.4 and below

 

Make-up work must be turned in no later than one week from time of assignment. Prearrangements must be made if you know that you will be absent.

Attendance

ABSENCE POLICY:

1.  UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL DEDUCT 3 POINTS FROM THE FINAL GRADE IN THIS COURSE.

2. THREE UNEXCUSED TARDIES WILL COUNT AS ONE ABSENCE

3. WORK THAT IS 10 DAYS OR MORE LATE WILL BE GRADED NO HIGHER THAN A 60

"DO NOT BE ABSENT FROM LECTURES"
