DFTG-2323-001 Pipe Drafting

Prerequisites

Prerequisites: DFTG 1305 and DFTG 1309 or department chair consent

Course Description

A study of pipe fittings, symbols, specifications and their applications to a piping process system. This application will be demonstrated through the creation of symbols and their usage in flow diagrams, plans, elevations and isometrics.

Student Performance

\ 1. Demonstrate the ability to obtain dimension data.
\ 2. Demonstrate the ability to draw piping symbols.
\ 3. Demonstrate the ability to draw orthographic views.
\ 4. Demonstrate the ability to dimension orthographic views.
\ 5. Demonstrate the ability to draw isometric views.
\ 6. Demonstrate the ability to dimension isometric views.
\ 7. Demonstrate the ability to draw and dimension pressure vessels.

\ The student will complete exercises each week on pipe details.  Drawings will be completed for symbols for various type of pipe drawings , schematics and process flow diagrams.

Grading Criteria

The final grade will be computed as follows: Average of performance projects 60%, , Final Project 40% = 100%

A late penalty will be assesed for late assignments of 5 points per day for each late day. Assignments will not be accepted more than 10 days late.

B 89 to 80

C 79 to 70

D 69 t0 60

F below 60

Each unit will require both performance projects. All students are required to complete requirements final project.

One final project will be used for final determination of grade and weekly completion of projects

Outline will be described each week on AC connect with assignments being posted each week.
