Note:  Successful participation in, and completion of this course requires personal possession of a wi-fi compatable laptop computer or tablet.

Student Performance

Admission in to the Advanced EMSP Course Curriculum is conditional.  Each student must turn in to the EMSP Program Director a copy of proof of current EMT-Basic National Registry and/or State Certification no later than April 15th of this semester in order to remain enrolled in EMSP 1438, 1455, and 1456.  Failure to comply with this policy will result in administrative withdrawal of the student from all EMSP Courses or receipt of a grade of "F".  If said withdrawal is exercised the student will forfeit all costs and expenses related to the enrollment in these courses with no expectation of any refunds.

Following completion of this course the student will possess all the knowledge and skills necessary to competently perform patient assessments and airway management interventions.

Course Requirements

\ Lecture
\
\ Do not be tardy. Do not be absent. (Tardy = Absent) Examinations will be administered at the
\ beginning of class periods. Examinations will not be passed out late and cannot be made up if missed.

\ Laboratory

Attendance, complete with FISDAP Documentation is mandatory.
\
\ Do not be tardy. Do not be absent.

\ Examination Performance
\
\ Written examinations will be administered at the beginning of class periods as scheduled. No
\ make-up exams will be given. If you will be required to miss a class date, make arrangements to
\ take the examination early.
\
\ A cumulative average of > 70% is required to pass this course.
\
\ Skills Examinations
\
\ Skills examinations will be administered as laboratory practical exams. All skills exams must be performed to a level deemed satisfactory by the skills examiner. The skills examiner will use the criteria of the Texas Department of Health and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians to evaluate skills performance. The skills examination forms are in the Course Laboratory Manual for study, practice, and evaluation.The objectives for the course are the objectives from the USDOT National Standard Curriculum. The objectives for each chapter in the textbooks are written at the beginning of each chapter.

\ Students are encouraged to read and thoroughly study these objectives prior to the class session in which the objectives will be covered.

\ A cumulative average of 70% or above on all written exams is required to pass this course.

Quarter Exams make up 60% of the final course average.

The Final Exam will make up 40% of the course final average.

FISDAP Notice

A 1-point deduction from your FINAL average will be taken for each "late" Fisdap email I receive regardless of the class in which it occurred. Furthermore, each student is required to sign-up for all FISDAP lab schedules prior to the announce deadline. If a student does not do so, the student will be advised to withdraw from the course or receive a grade of "F" for the course.
