Required:  Microsoft Word 2013 is required for this course; it is your choice whether to purchase the Professional version or the Home and Student version.  It is also your choice where you purchase the software.  You might consider www.JourneyEd.com

If you choose to use software other than Microsoft Word 2013, you do so at your own risk.  The above-referenced textbook and this course are written/designed for Word 2013.

    OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF COURSE:  Students will learn to prepare, format, and manage documents; create and enhance tables; and create a mail merge using Word 2013.

    By the end of the semester, the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all of the Learning Outcomes (Minimum Competencies) with a competency level based on the completion of required examinations administered under the supervision of the instructor and evaluated according to the instructor’s grading scale in the Office Administration Department.

    \ PLAGIARISM, CHEATING AND INDIVIDUAL WORK ETHIC:  The Amarillo College policies and Code of Student Conduct is strictly adhered to when dealing with plagiarism, cheating and duplication of work product.  Any evidence of plagiarism, cheating or duplication of work product will result in a zero on the project or test in question.

    GRADING SCALE: See course schedule. Course grade: 90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

    PRODUCTION TEST GRADING SCALE:

    0 errors  =  100
    1 error    =   90
    2 errors  =   80
    3 errors  =   70
    4 errors  =   60
    5+ errors =  50

    Students are required to adhere to the Online Course Calendar.  All deadlines are posted to the calendar and will be strictly adhered to.  Changes/deviations from the course schedule will be made by email at least one week prior to the scheduled event.  It is the student’s responsibility to stay current, informed, and prompt regarding deadlines.

    Students will receive a “100” on all assigned homework submitted by the posted deadline if the work is completed satisfactorily.  Points will be deducted for missing exercises/assessments.  Ten points per week will be deducted from the grade for any work submitted after the posted deadline.  Students are encouraged to read/apply the instructor’s comments when making corrections to homework to be better prepared for tests.

    72-69 completed exercises = A (100)  68-65 completed exercises = B (89)
    64-61 completed exercises = C (79)    60-57 completed exercises = D (69)

    56-53 completed exercises = F (59)    Below 52 completed exercises = 0

    If you do not complete at least 52 exercises (regardless of other grades), your course grade will be an F.

    Chapter/Unit Assessments will be checked:   (Total 78 printed assessments)

    78-75 completed assessments = A (100)                            74-71 completed assessments = B (89)
    70-67 completed assessments = C (79)                              66-63 completed assessments = D (69)
    62-59 completed assessments = F (59)                              Below 58 completed assessments = 0

    If you do not complete at least 58 assessments (regardless of other grades), your course grade will be an F.

    There are no incompletes in this class.  There is no “extra credit” to be earned.  There are no make-up production tests for any reason.  Production tests are timed; no extra time is allowed.

    Weekly chapter exercises and assessments are due before 11:55 p.m. the Sunday after they are assigned.  Ten points per week will be deducted from the grade for any work submitted after the posted deadline.

    There are five production tests (including the comprehensive final).
