RDNG-0331-005 Reading Techniques II
Prerequisite: RDNG 0321-minium grade of C, Accuplacer reading score of 61-77, THEA reading score of 201-229 or equivalent score on a state approved test
Improve reading proficiency, reading speed, comprehension, vocabulary and general study skills. Develop skills necessary for reading college-level textbooks. Exit test required for satisfactory completion.

\ To prepare the student to comprehend reading material presented in college level textbooks. At the conclusion of the course, the student must demonstrate mastery of the following skills at 70%:
\\ 1. Analyze the meanings of words and phrases.
\\ 2. Determine the main idea and supporting details in written material.
\\ 3. Evaluate a writer's purpose, point of view, and intended meaning.
\\ 4. Analyze the relationship among ideas in written material.
\\ 5. Use critical reasoning skills to evaluate written material.
\\ 6. Apply study skills to reading assignments in college textbooks.

\ \As part of the course requirements of Reading 0331, assigned homework must be completed each week outside of class. Students will complete the homework assignments and then submit their homework via AC Connect or in class.

REQUIRED LAB:
\ \As part of the course requirements of Reading 0331, assigned lab must be completed each week. Lab assignments will include computer lessons from McGraw-Hill Connect Reading 3.0 and three (3) scheduled lab appointments or other activities approved by your instructor. Weekly lab grades will be based on the percentage of questions answered correctly for the assigned lessons in Connect and/or the completion of lab sessions. When a student is logged into a computer for the purpose of completing lab or attending a lab session, the student must be actively involved in the lesson at all times.

MAKE-UP POLICY:
Tests
\ \Ten (10) points may be deducted from all major tests taken late. All major tests not taken within one week of the scheduled test date will receive a grade of zero (0) unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.
\ \Assignments
\ \Assignments must be submitted by the deadline to receive credit. Assignments will not be taken late. Any assignment not completed on time will receive a grade of zero (0).
\ \Lab
\ \All lab assignments are due on assigned days at the assigned times. Any lab assignment not completed on time will receive a grade of zero (0).
\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. It will be the responsibility of the student to drop the class by the withdrawal date should he/she stop attending; otherwise, a grade of "F" will be given.
