DFTG-2319-001 Intermediate Computer-Aided Drafting

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: DFTG 1309 or department chair consent

Course Description

A continuation of practices and techniques used in basic computer-aided drafting emphasizing batched files, scripted files, customized program menus and extracted attributes. Introduction to three-dimensional drafting.

\ Two assignment folders.

Student Performance

Continuation of dimensioning with emphasis on dimension style creation and management, dimension variables, and tolerance dimensioning; creation of internal and external blocks and block attribute data that can be extracted into text files, tables, or spreadsheets; creating projects that reference several drawing files together; creating dynamic blocks with the block editor; using the Action Macros utility to create quick and easy macros; creating dynamic blocks that include geometric and dynamic constraints; creating an isometric drawing with geometry and text in appropriate isoplanes.

\ It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures.  Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.

Grading Criteria

A - 89.5 and above

B - 79.5 to 89.4

C - 69.5 to 79.4

D - 59.5 to 69.4

F - 59.4 and below

 

The final grade will be computed as follows: 

    Weekly Written Assignments               20%
    Weekly Drawing Assignments             20%
    Three Exams                                      20%
    Three Projects                                    30%
    Final Exam                                         10% 
                                                            100%

Assignments and projects that are late will be lowered 10 points.  After one week from the due date, a grade of 0 is assigned.

If a student misses an online test, he or she may take a written makeup exam within one week of the original test date.  After one week a grade of zero is assigned.

 

Attendance

\ Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings.  Attendance is monitored.  If a class is  missed, it is the student's responsibility to determine what may have been missed and take appropriate action.
