The Language of Medicine, 10th Edition, with ACCESS CODE Davie-Ellen Chabner, W. B. Saunders.
This course will NOT be using the Evolve Website.
Students will be using AC Connect (Blackboard) for this course.
This course requires an access code.
The ACCESS CODE is packaged with the textbook and can be purchased at the Amarillo College West Campus Bookstore.
Students will NOT be able to access computer modules and assessments without an ACCESS CODE.
If you need to update your computer or check for viruses, the center will provide these services FREE OF CHARGE to AC Students. Your instructor highly recommends that students take advantage of these services!
If you have purchased a used textbook, borrowed a textbook, or have taken the course online before you MUST purchase a NEW ACCESS CODE for this semester.

It is the responsibility of the student to access the course on a regular basis, participate and complete required assignments, quizzes and exams.
Students are not automatically dropped from their class roles as a result on non-attendance.
Academic dishonesty shall constitute a violation of the college rules and regulations and is punishable as prescribed by Amarillo College board policies. Academic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to, cheating on a test, plagiarism, and collusion.
"Cheating on a test" shall include:
'Plagiarism" shall be defined as the appropriating, buying, receiving as a gift, or obtaining by any means another's work and the unacknowledged submission or incorporation of it in one's own written work.
"Collusion" shall be defined as the unauthorized collaboration with another person in preparing written work for fulfillment of course requirements.
At the request of the school administration, Quizzes will be administered on the school campus with the course facilitator.
Quiz dates are located on the Online calendar. Time limit for each quiz will be 45 MINUTES.
After each question is answered the student must select the "Next" button to save the answer. At the end of the quiz the student must select the submit button on the quiz for it to be graded. The student will be able to see the quiz grade after the quiz has been submitted.
Each quiz has 100 possible points.
Any student who misses a quiz will receive a grade of zero (0) for the missed quiz.
Each quiz will OPEN @ 11:50am and will CLOSE @ 12:35pm.
Quizzes will not be opened early or late.

The student will have 70 minutes to complete an exam.
Exam dates can viewed on the Online course calendar.
Once an exam is started the clock is running and cannot be paused.
Time Limit for ALL Exams will be 70 minutes.
After each question is answered the student must select the "Next" button to save the answer. At the end of the exam the student must select the submit button on the exam for it to be graded. The student will be able to see their exam score after the exam has been submitted.

The lowest major exam grade will be dropped if the student has completed all eight (8) major exams and has completed the Final Exam.

MAJOR EXAMS ARE WORTH 55% OF THE FINAL GRADE.
IMPORTANT!...ALL STUDENTS, REGARDLESS OF GRADEPOINT AVERAGE, WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE COMPREHENSIVE FINAL.
If a student fails to take the final exam the lowest major exam grade will NOT be dropped even if the student has completed ALL eight (8) major exams.
The student will have a COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM, WHICH IS WORTH 30% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.
The Final Exam will be administered during the school day with the course facilitator.
The Final Exam will be 250 questions.
The student will have 3 hours OR 180 minutes to complete the Final Exam.
Please refer to the course calendar for the Final Exam date. Remember to select the submit button on each question answered. After each question is answered the student must select the "Next" button to save the answer. At the end of the final exam the student must select the submit button on the final exam for it to be graded. Please remember once the final exam is started the clock is running and cannot be paused.
If the STUDENT misses the designated time for the FINAL EXAM, a grade of zero (0) will be given for the exam, unless an incomplete has been granted. Arrangements to receive an incomplete "I" grade for the course must be made prior to the date of the final exam and appropriate documentation given to the instructor.
Incompletes are granted only for emergency situations such as hospitalization of the student, serious injury to the student on the day of the final exam, etc. Incompletes will not be granted for situations involving vacation plans, appointments, or computer problems, etc.
