BIOL-1109-001 Biology for Non-Science Majors Laboratory II
This laboratory-based course accompanies BIOL 1309, Biology for Non-Science Majors II. Laboratory activities will reinforce a survey of biological principles with an emphasis on humans, including evolution, ecology, plant and animal diversity and physiology.

STUDENT PERFORMANCE, COMPETENCIES AND OBJECTIVES: After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department.

\ \3. Describe the difference between a hypothesis and a theory.
\ \4. Describe the basic body tissues, organs, and systems.

\ \6. Describe the biology of bacteria.
\ \7. Describe the diversity of the animals

GRADING: Grades are not curved.
89.5 - 100 = A
79.5 - 89.4 = B
69.5 - 79.4 = C
59.5 - 69.4 = D
Below 59.5 = F
One lab grade will be dropped. If you MISS the DUE DATE and TIME for any homework assignment, a grade of zero will be assigned for that homework. I want you to complete assignments on time so I do not encourage make-up work, but I will work with you if you have special circumstances. All late assignments will be given a maximum grade of 70. Review the course calendar and the assignment folders for assignment due dates and times.
LABS (85%), AND WRITING ASSIGNMENTS (15%): Assignments will be made at least one week prior to the due date. All written assignments will be submitted online. The lowest lab grade will be DROPPED.
ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments will be mentioned in the Unit Instructor Notes near the top of the document and are displayed with completion dates in the unit folders and on the calendar. Please check for these assignments and plan accordingly. I have attempted to make all labs with minimal required equipment. The equipment that is required should be readily available at your local store. I will require that you post pictures of your labs to show that it was completed.
\ No face-to-face contact is required but weekly participation is required.

There will be a lab most weeks.The lab is available the week prior to its due date and will be due on the Sunday at the end of the unit week.
