MCHN-1338-001 Basic Machine Shop I
Prerequisite: MCHN 1332
A course that introduces the student to machining fundamentals. The student begins by using basic machine tools including the lathe, milling machine, drill press, power saw and bench grinder. Machine terminology, theory, math, part layout and bench work using common measuring tools is included. Emphasis is placed on shop safety, housekeeping and preventative maintenance.

Workbook/Homework will be assigned from each chapter covered in the textbook.These workbook and handout assignments will be looked at by the instructor at the beginning of each class period, failure to have daily homework complete will result in that student not being allowed in lab until homework is complete it will also result in the student in a zero grade placed in the preparedness section of the daily rubric.Written test is subject to, both materials covered in that chapter and any previously materials covered from prior machining classes.
Final: A comprehensive final will be given.
Attendance in class and lab participation is regarded as a requirement and an obligation for learning. Attendance and participation are graded on the Daily Rubric.
