    Student Performance

    Learning outcomes: Knowledge and skills required to perform patient assessment, airway management and artificial ventilation.

    In addition, the student will have demonstrated sufficient mastery of the course objectives, listed at the beginning of each text chapter, to effectively assess and manage patients. It is desired that course goals be accomplished to the extent that the student’s final grade is not less than a grade of “C” as evaluated by the program faculty. A final grade less than “C” will result in failure of the course.

    This is in response to the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 157, Subchapter C, Rule §157.32 which states, "Certification as an EMT-Basic shall be required prior to beginning field and clinical rotations in an EMT-I course". Note: The Amarillo College refund dates will likely have passed. As such, NO REFUND WILL BE POSSIBLE.

    Fisdap Maintenance:

    \ \

    A 1-point deduction from your FINAL average will be taken for each "late" Fisdap email I receive regardless of the class in which it occurred.

    \ \

    Furthermore, each student is required to sign-up for FISDAP lab schedules PRIOR to the announce deadline. If a student does not do so, the student will be advised to withdraw from the course or receive a grade of "F" for the course.

    Remember: Fisdap requires a one-time fee of $80 to establish a student's account.

    MAJOR EXAM MAKE-UP POLICY:

    \ \

    A student who will not complete a Major Exam at the scheduled time must contact the instructor before the scheduled exam. If the absence is excused, the test must be taken BEFORE the next class session. If the absence is NOT excused, or no prior contact with the instructor occurred, a TEN PERCENT GRADE REDUCTION PER DAY will be assessed during the first 7 days the exam is late; after which, a score of zero will be awarded. No further attempt will then be possible.

    There will be no make-up for missed quiz/workbook grades.

    Attendance

    Regular attendance is necessary for successful completion of this course. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class.

    After 2 absences from lecture and/or lab, a one point deduction for each additional absence will be taken from the student’s final average.

    \ \

    Each tardy is 0.5 absence (2 tardies=1 absence).  There will be no make-up for missed quiz/workbook grades. The lowest quiz/workbook grade will be dropped.

    LABORATORY:

    Regular attendance is mandatory for successful completion of this course. No Skill can be failed more than twice for successful completion of this course

    • Also, students are not automatically dropped from their class roster as a result of nonattendance. It is therefore the responsibility of the student to officially drop or withdraw from a course through the registrar's office. Failure to officially withdraw may result in the student receiving a grade of "F" in the course.
