Course Description
This course covers the theory and introduction to arc welding processes. Skill in the welding process and the selection of materials and equipment will be stressed.

Students are required to conduct themselves according to the Student’s code of Professional Conduct. This is to include the dress code and wearing the Amarillo College Technical Education logo Uniform shirts.
Grading Criteria
Students should complete all projects and Performance Tests at the REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. They will be scored on neatness, completeness, procedure, professionalism, attitude, attendance, shop cleanup, and SAFETY PRACTICES.

Attendance
Attendance in class and lab participation is regarded as a requirement and an obligation for learning. Grade points are given for attendance and participation for each class. Classes and labs can be made up ONLY with prior approval of the instructor and for a maximum of two excused absences.
Calendar
The first class session will consist of safety training, shop orientation, and locker assignments, with a safety test at the start of the second class.
\ \Written tests will be given on approximately class meetings 8 and 14, with reviews on the class prior to each test.
\ \Shop projects are due no later than the end of the next to last scheduled class.

SAFETY IS OUR ONE MOST IMPORTANT CONCERNS. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN ANY SHOP WITHOUT SAFETY GLASSES AS WELL AS ANY OTHER APPROPRIATE SAFETY GEAR. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THE AMARILLO COLLEGE STUDENTS CODE OF CONDUCT. ANY VIOLATION OF THIS CODE WILL BE DEALT WITH APPROPRIATELY.
