ITCC-2410-001 Cisco Exploration 4 - Accessing the WAN
Prerequisite: ITCC 2408
This course explains the principles of traffic control and access control lists (ACLs) and provides an overview of the services and protocols at the data link layer for wide-area access. Describes user access technologies and devices and discovers how to implement and configure Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), DSL and Frame Relay. WAN security concepts, tunneling and VPN basics are introduced. Discuss the special network services required by converged applications and an introduction to quality of service (QoS). Â

End-of-Course Outcomes: Identify and correct common network problems at layers 1, 2, 3, and 7 using a layered model approach; select the appropriate media, cables, ports, and connectors to connect switches to other devices and hosts; perform and verify initial switch configuration tasks including remote access management; configure, verify, and troubleshoot VLANs, VLAN Trunking, Inter-VLAN routing, VTP, and RSTP; verify network status and switch operation using basic utilities (ping, traceroute, telnet, SSH, arp, ipconfig); identify and describe the purpose of the components in a small wireless network (SSID, BSS, ESS); and identify the basic parameters to configure on a wireless network to ensure that devices connect to the correct point.

A Superior, >89.5% average on graded work.
Lab Grade will be 100% if all labs are complete, minus 11 points for each chapter lab assignment not complete.
The opportunity to make-up an exam and/or lab will be determined by the circumstances of each individual, permitted at the discretion of the instructor.
The time and place for make-up test will be determined by the instructor.
Students who miss gradable coursework due to an absence will be given the opportunity to make up the missed work, with the exception of the final exam. The final exam may be taken early, if prior arrangements have been made. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor as soon as possible after return to class to arrange to make up missed coursework.
INSTRUCTOR'S STATEMENT: As your instructor, I am always willing to discuss your grades with you and explain how your grade was determined. If a grading error has been made on my part, I am always willing to correct the error.
Attendance in class is regarded as requirement, and obligation for learning. Please remember the deadline for dropping a class at AC is published in the official Amarillo College Schedule of Classes. If you stop attending class and do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an “F” for the course.
Students will be warned and after two (2) absences and counseled by the instructor after three (3) absences.
Being tardy three (3) times will be considered one (1) absence.
Four (4) unexcused absences in any one semester may be cause for students to receive a failing grade for the course. Six (6) total absences (excused/or non-excused will automatically result in the student dropping one (1) letter grade for the course unless otherwise indicated by the instructor.
It is the responsibility of the student to make up any work missed due to absences and to gain missed lecture notes through outside reading and/or note from classmates.
Make up examinations (and other assignments) will be permitted at the discretion of the instructor. The time and place for make-up test will be determined by the instructor.
If you are going to be late or absent, please notify the instructor as soon as possible.
**Out of class Lab work will be required.**

Note: As this is a Hybrid 8-week course Students must read the chapter, review power point slides, complete packet tracers and take exams at home by midnight on the day before the next class meeting. All hands on labs will be performed in class. Late work will be graded at negative 5 points per day after due date. Exams cannot be made up unless previously approved by instructor.
