    \ PERFORMANCE/LEARNING OBJECTIVES (MINIMUM COMPETENCIES):  After completing the course, students will be familiar with the following:  (1) performing responsibilities of an administrative professional; (2) applying time management skills; (3) processing incoming/outgoing mail; (4) filing; (5) making travel arrangements; (6) preparing for business meetings; (7) preparing for the job search process; (8) applying business ethics; (9) producing mailable business documents; and (10) applying grammar rules.

    15% Machine Trans.            2 tapes; letters must be mailable for a minimum passing grade of 70;
                                               5 points deducted per error.

    All assignments are due on the date specified in the Course Schedule.  All assignments must be appropriately labeled, stapled in order, and placed in my box in Byrd 212.

    Late Assignments:  Ten points will be deducted (per assignment) per scheduled class meeting that the assignment is past due.

    You may keep your Seeking Employment project after it is graded.  All other assignments will be kept by the instructor. 

    The second floor of the Byrd Business Building has at least one computer lab open all week; check the CIS computer lab schedule online for specific days/times.  The AC Library is also available for student use.

    Machine Transcription

    Please turn in your assigned work on the dates that are listed below or before. You will need to check out the transcription tape/machine from the instructor.  After transcribing, you must return all tapes and the machine to the instructor.

                Tape 1 =10/7              Tape 2 = 10/19

    AC GRADING SCALE:  90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

    Attendance

    \ Employees in the business world are expected to be at work promptly each day; therefore, students in business classes are expected to be in class promptly each day. This class meets twice each week. After two absences for any reason, one point will be deducted from the semester average per absence. There are no excused absences. Three tardies equal one absence.  If you leave class for any reason while the class is being conducted, it will be counted as a tardy.  If you are more than 5 minutes late to a class, it will be counted as an absence.
