Grading Criteria

  1. Grading Criteria/Grade Scale:
    The following criteria will be used to determine your grade:
    • A = 90–100
    • B = 80 – 89
    • C =75 –79
    • D = 60 –74
    • F = below 60
  1. 75% of the clinical grade is determined by the performance of clinical competencies on the Clinical Performance Evaluation of Competencies (CPEC).  Competencies will be assigned a  "4", “3”, “2”, “1” , “0", “Yes” or “No”.    A score of “0” or “NO”  in one or more competencies will result in clinical failure.  Please see the CPEC Guidelines in the course manual. Compliance with online case studies assignments is essential for passing grade.
  2. 20% of the clinical grade is determined by a written paper and class presentation for patient teaching or nursing practice.  The paper is to be submitted using current research in nursing to determine best practice/evidence based practice. The paper will be submitted only one time for grading.  Please see the Guidelines and Grading Criteria for this paper in the course manual.
  3. 5% for Clinical Plans of Care (4 plans x 20 pts max  x .05)
  4. More information will be given during the first day of clinical orientation.
  5. Students must attend and participate in all clinical simulation experiences.
  6. All students must access the on-line remediation through HESI Assessment after the course’s Evolve Specialty or Custom Exam. All students will develop an individualized study packet, and review all areas designated as needing improvement. Completion of remediation and development of a study packet is due by the Friday before the final exam. If it is not completed as assigned, the student will fail the course.
