Prerequisites

Prerequisite: Open to any licensed physician, nurse, paramedic or respiratory therapist with a current license or certificate. Must hold current CPR, ACLS and at least one card from each of the following sets: [PALS, PEPP, ENPC, PPC] and [PHTLS, BTLS, TNA

Course Description

Prepares healthcare personnel to function as members of a critical care transport team.

Student Performance

\ At the completion of this course, the student will have demonstrated sufficient mastery of the course objectives, to effectively assess and manage critical care emergency medical transport patients. It is desired that course goals be accomplished to the extent that the student’s final grade is not less than a grade of “C” as evaluated by the program faculty. A final grade less than “C” will result in failure of the course.

Grading Criteria

Percentages of Grade

  • Final Exam              =  100% of final average

Grading Scale:

  • A = 93% and up
  • B = 83% - 92.9%
  • C = 73% - 82.9%
  • D = 63% – 72.9%
  • F = 62.9% and below

Attendance

Attendance is necessary for successful completion of this course. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend all days of this class.

This is an 80 hour certification preparation course. 10 - 8 hour days 8a-5p.

  • AC Connect is the fastest/easiest way to communicate with a large group of people. Each student should become familiar with how to log-on and use the AC Connect web portal. Grades and important class information will be posted, along with campus announcements, events, and email

 

 

  • Also, students are not automatically dropped from their class roster as a result of nonattendance. It is therefore the responsibility of the student to officially drop or withdraw from a course through the registrar's office. Failure to officially withdraw may result in the student receiving a grade of "F" in the course. 

NOTE: The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule §4.10.
