\ \This course is an exploration of the purposes and processes in the visual and performing arts (such as music, painting, architecture, drama, and dance) and the ways in which they express the values of cultures and human experience.

Academic Honesty: All matters of academic dishonesty including plagiarism, collusion, fabrication, cheating etc. will result in a failing grade for the assignment in question. All violations will be forwarded to the proper college authorities for review. Any form of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any material copied and pasted from a web source into assignments, analyses, and essays without proper citation or documentation will be considered plagiarism or stealing and will receive a failing grade.
Online Student Behavior: All students are expected to be polite and considerate when posting opinions and thoughts in the Discussion Forum. The Online class is not a location where students may post aggressive, insulting, or inappropriate use of language. Any student who violates the required Student Behavior (as stated and in the AC Student Handbook) will result in a failing grade for the course.
Course Requirements and Accessing AC Connect:
It is the responsibility of the student to check email messages, announcements and the course using AC Connect. Students will submit all assignments and analyses using AC Connect unless noted on the assignment or by the instructor.
Chapters will be presented in three sections according to specific calendar dates.
Assignments, Analyses, Essays and Quizzes will be available to students on specific calendar dates.
Chapters will be presented in a specific order as stated in the Course Calendar.
Assignments and Analyses will be written in the MLA format with proper college level writing skills. Text messaging abbreviations will not be accepted. Essays and Assignments must be submitted in the rtf(rich text format) in order to be opened by college computers for grading.
Assignments, Analyses, Essays, Quizzes – worth 50% of total grade (extra-credit will apply to assignments) The Film Essay for Chapter 11 is considered the Final.
Discussion Forum – worth 50% of total grade (lowest grade will be dropped from final grade)
Grading Criteria: It is the student’s responsibility to complete all assigned tasks by the specified due date. Individual assignments are evaluated by the instructor. Incomplete assignments, analyses, participation and attendance concerns will be reported to specific department chairs, division chairs, and Associate Vice President of Instruction.

Final Date to Withdraw from Course without a Failing Grade: 6/24/2015
You may start and complete any of the assignments for chapters 4 – 13 from June 7 until the respective due dates. The assignment will not allow access after the due dates have passed. All discussions and assignments are due before 11:00 pm; late assignments will not be allowed due to the short semester.
All assignments must be attached as docx, rtf, or pdf formats, assignments posted in "Comment" box will receive a zero
assignments submitted in odt, wps, .pages or google docs cannot be opened, students will receive an email to resend in the correct format with a 5pt penalty
The Final Exam must be submitted in the correct format, documents in odt, wps, .pages or google docs will not be accepted or allowed corrections; final exam essays attached in the incorrect formats or in the "Comment" box will receive a zero.
