Student Performance

\

\

\ Attention !!!

\

\ Any student currently employeed by an EMS Service, Hospital, or other healthcare facility cannot at any time be on payroll for the institution and perform student skills simultaneously.  Doing so would constitute exercising clinical skills outside the student's scope of practice.  A student is either functioning as an employee at their current certification level or functioning as a student under direct supervision practicing advanced skills.

\

\

\

\ Students must be clearly identifiable as students at all times by all parties during clinical rotations.

\

\

\

\ The only time practicing student skills is allowed is during an assigned and precepted clinical rotation.

\

\

\

\ There is zero tolerance for violation of this rule.  As program faculty or staff become aware of violation of the rule the program medical director will be notified and the infraction will be immediately reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

\

\

\

\ Attend, and complete each FISDAP clinical rotation as selected and assigned.

\

\ Complete, document, maintain, and turn in electronic FISDAP records and hard-copy records as required for each clinical rotation documenting date and time of rotation and skills attained with appropriate signatures.

\

\ Full FISDAP Documentation is required for every shift completed and every skill attempted and/or attained.  Reporting of skill attempt failures are as important as reporting skill attempt successs !!!

\

\ All FISDAP documentation must be completed within the first 12 hours following completion of any clinical shift.

\

\ If a student does not report skill attempt failures there is no way to demonstrate skill performance improvement.
