Prerequisite: RDNG 0331-minimum grade of C or a score on a state-approved test indicating college-level reading skills

Course Description

The scientific study of human society, including ways in which groups, social institutions and individuals affect each other. Causes of social stability and social change are explored through the application of various theoretical perspectives, key concepts and related research methods of sociology. Analysis of social issues in their institutional context may include topics such as social stratification, gender, race/ethnicity and deviance.

Grading Criteria

Grading Criteria:
438 - 394 = A; 393 - 350 = B; 349 - 306 = C

305 - 262 = D; 261 down = F

In the gradesbook, do NOT look at the one that says total. That is only your quiz grade. Look for the column that says total w/ extra credit. It will be in a % form. This will be accurate to what you have done so far. IF you skip a quiz, and your grade doesn’t change, it’s because I haven’t put in the 0 yet. 
 
 This does NOT include the extra credit paper.

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT: 

1. “Just The Basics Please! Book 1: Money”. Write a 1 page, double spaced, 12 font, standard margin, paper regarding what you learned from this book. This paper is worth 10 points. This book is available in the bookstore.

2.  “Just The Basics Please! Book 2 Marriage & Sex”  Write a 1 1/2 page, double spaced, 12 font, standard margin, paper regarding what you learned from this book. This paper is worth 20 points.

This book is available from www.debavarabooks.com as a download. Or, they can be bought in my office Dutton 202m- for $10.00. Our Secretary Promise can help you if I am not there. You might call her to make sure she is going to be there when you come in  – 371-5191.

MAKEUP POLICY:  NONE.  ALL test are done ONLINE and ON TIME.  I DO NOT turn quizzes back on.  Do not wait until the last minute; something will go wrong (Murphy's Law!!).  Excuses will not be accepted, sickness, weather, computer problems, work - it is your choice to take or not take the quizzes.
