Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Course Description

An introduction to current refinishing products, shop safety and equipment used in the automotive refinishing industry. Emphasis on surface preparation, masking techniques and refinishing of replacement parts.

Student Performance

End-of-Course Outcomes:  Use proper industry refinishing tools; perform surface preparation and masking skills; refinish trim and cut-in replacement parts; and apply personal and environmental safety procedures

 

Ater studying the material presented in this course the student will be able to prepare all types of surfaces to be painted. also the student will learn the basic techniques on how to spray primer, sealer, paint, including how to mix each.

Expected Student Behavior

Any student thought to be disrupting class will be asked to leave for the day.

Cell phone use in class or  lab will not be tolerated.

Grading Criteria

Grading will be divided into three categories. Chapter tests will be 25%. Attendance will be 50%. Work in the lab will be 25%. Test grades will count as lab and class grade for that day.

90-100= A

80-89= B

70-79= C

60-69= D

Attendance

Regular attendance is required for satisfactory achievement.  It is the students responsibility to attend class. Attendance will be part of the final grade. After 3 days missed Instructor will consult you about grade average.As a student you must keep up with days missed and ask for any work missed.It is not up tp the Instructor to keep up with your missed work. The final out come of learning will depend on your participation in the class or lab.Certain class projects will be divided among the more advanced students.If a student leaves for the day without asking the Instructor, that student will receive a 0 for the day.
