DFTG-2332-001 Advanced Computer-Aided Drafting
Prerequisite: DFTG 2319 or department chair consent
Exploration of the use of system customization for drawing production enhancement and the principles of data manipulation. Presentation of advanced applications, such as three-dimensional objects creation and linking graphic entities to external non-graphic data.

\ 1. Set up a user profile and network account
\\ 2. Create a customized desktop.
\\ 3. Use the internet to access support sites.
\\ 4. Maximize settings in the Windows Explorer to create and manage directories and files.
\\ 5. Create and edit DOS batch files as systems utilities.
\\ 8. Access operating system utilities for trouble-shooting and fixing problems.
\\ 9. Load AutoCAD onto a hard driveand configure its settings.
\\ 10. Create and modify an AutoCAD profile.
\\ 11. Modify the location and way AutoCAD starts.
\\ 12. Create custom button, pulldown, ribbon panel, cursor shortcut and image tile menus.
\\ 13. Create menu items with helpstrings, hotkeys, and macros using menu codes.
\\ 14. Create custom toolbars and accellerator keys.
\\ 15. Use AutoLISP to create macros that request input, create new coordinate points from existing coordianates, create and edit entities, check conditions for branching statements.
\\ 16. Create a dialog box using VBA.
\\ Summary: Orientation to the Windows 7 operating system, user profiles, and desktop in a network environment; overview of the web as a cad resource; Dos commands and batch files; installation, configuration, and customization of AutoCAD; introduction to the AutoLISP and Visual Basic for Applications programming languages.

The final grade will be computed as follows:
If a student misses an online test, he or she may take a written makeup exam within one week of the original test date. After one week a grade of zero is assigned.
There are three online objective exams.
There is one online final exam. A student with an A average at final exam week does not have to take the final exam.

Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Attendance is monitored. If a class is missed, it is the student's responsibility to determine what may have been missed and take appropriate action.
