MRTS-2432-001 Human Anatomy
Corequisites: MRTS 2260 and MRTS 2244
Examination of the major systems of the human body with emphasis on the circulatory system. Human cadaver dissection in the program laboratory is included. If this course is online, it is an enhanced online course that requires students to come to Amarillo at the end of the semester for an off-site cadaver dissection lab. Students should be prepared to be in lab at their expense, M-F 8am to 5pm one week prior to final examinations. No exceptions will be made to the required lab.

Purpose and Goals of course:
By the end of the semester the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all the listed learning objectives with a minimum 75% competency level based on the completion of a minimum of four major exams and a comprehensive final examination.

5. To promote an appreciation of and an interest in teh human body as a subject for independent study and continuing intellectual growth.

FOOD/DRINK:It is the policy of the Mortuary Science Department that food and drink be allowed in the classroom setting, at the instructors discretion, but food and drink are not allowed in the lab.
PHONE/PAGERS:It is the policy of the Mortuary Science Department that cell phones and pagers must be turned off or in silent mode in the classrooms,and in the Computer Labs. No phones allowed in the cadaver lab. ABSOLUTELY, NO CALL shall be taken during a quiz, exam or lab practical. This will result in a grade of zero on that quiz, exam, or lab practical.
Grievance Procedure:
If the student is having a problem with the course policies or the instructor, he or she should first try to resolve any such problems with the instructor. If the problem is not resolved, the student my proceed to the Mortuary Science Program Director,( Mr. Rankin), the Dean of Allied Health (Mr. Mark Rowh), the Associate Vice-President for Instruction, (Dr.Vess), or the college President,( Dr. Lowery-Hart), IN THAT ORDER.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This syllabus is subject to change at the discretion of the instructor. Material included is intended to provide an outline of the course and rules that the instructor will adhere to in evaluating the student's progress. Students are expected to read the textbook before and after the material is presented in lecture.

This grading scale is the policy of the Mortuary Science Program.
LECTURE:
One half (50%) of the total grade for the semester
1. Five major exams(40%) of the total Lecture grade - consisting of multiple choice, matching, labeling diagrams, and true-false questions.
2. Lecture quizzes (5-7) consisting of 10 - 20 questions (10%) of the total lecture grade.
3. One lecture exam and one lecture quiz grade will be dropped.
LABORATORY:
The Lab is scheduled for November 30- December 4. 8 A.M-5 P.M. Make arrangements now. No exceptions.
One -fourth (25%) of the total grade for the semester.
1. Two lab practicals consisting of 100 questions (fill in the blank ans short answer). 20% of the total lab grade
2. Lab quizzes (5-7) consisting of 10 - 20 questions. 5% of the total lab grade
3. One lab quiz will be dropped.
FINAL EXAM
A comprehensive exam, consisting of multiple choice, matching, labeling diagrams and true - false questions. This exam will be 150 - 200 questions. The exam is designed to prepare the student for their board exams. It will be worth 25% of the total grade for the semester.
Attendance of the Lab Nov 30-Dec 4 is mandatory. Make arrangements now.
