    Grading Criteria

     60% Individual Documents & Quizzes
     20% 5-MinuteTimed Writings
     20% Lab Assignments

    100%  FINAL COURSE GRADE

*Production tests are given on the date listed on the course schedule and tests cannot be made up without a penalty. Please check the schedule carefully so that you can plan accordingly.

In order to receive an A or a B in the course, you must have an A or a B average AND you must be able to key information at the rate of 40 words per minute for five minutes with 0-5 errors on designated materials.  If you DO NOT reach 40 words per minute, all of your grades will be averaged according to the scale listed below; however, you ARE NOT eligible to receive a grade higher than a C UNLESS you reach 40 words per minute for five minutes with 0-5 errors on designated materials.  The 5-minute timed writing grade will count 20% of your final course grade.  If, for any reason, you cannot key 40 wpm for five minutes with 0-5 errors, you cannot make more than a C for your final course grade.

Your five best 5-minute timed writings meeting the speed and error requirements will be averaged to determine your final Timed Writing grade for the semester based on the following scale:

    A – 53 wpm or more / 0 – 5 errors
    B – 48 – 52 / 0 – 5 errors
    C – 43 - 47 / 0 – 5 errors
    D – 40 – 42 / 0 – 5 errors
    F – 39 or below / 0 – 5 errors

    Attendance
