Prerequisites

Prerequisite: POFI 2340 -minimum grade of C or demonstrated competence

Course Description

In-depth coverage of desktop publishing terminology, text editing and use of design principles. Emphasis on layout techniques, graphics, multiple page displays and business applications. This course is designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

Expected Student Behavior

Students are expected to follow the class schedule closely and have assignments prepared properly and ready to turn in at the beginning of class on the day they are due.

Please turn off your cell phone (and all other electronic devices) before coming to class.
Children, food, and/or drinks are not allowed in the computer labs.

PLAGIARISM, CHEATING, AND INDIVIDUAL WORK ETHIC: The Amarillo College policies and Code of Student Conduct is strictly adhered to when dealing with plagiarism, cheating and duplication of work product. Any evidence of plagiarism, cheating, or duplication of work products will result in a zero on the project or test in question.

Grading Scale: 90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 79-70 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

PORTFOLIO: Submit at least 20 exercises and/or assessments (of your choosing) in a labeled/organized portfolio. You can choose to have a “hard copy” portfolio (in color) or you may save your portfolio as a CD. The samples included in your portfolio MUST be perfect and ready for submission to prospective employers. Hard-copy portfolios must be organized and labeled in a binder or folder. (Page protectors are optional)
 

Attendance

Employees in the business world are expected to be at work promptly each day; therefore, students in business classes are expected to be in class promptly each day.
