Student Performance

Course Description:  Introduces the skills necessary for assisting the physician with a complete history and physical in all types of medical practices.

Topics include: Infection control and related OSHA guidelines, medication administration, prepare/assist with age and gender – specific examinations and diagnostic procedures, vital signs/mensuration, medical office surgical procedures and electrocardiography.

Amarillo College and the Clinical Medical Assistant program are committed to developing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors in students so that they can obtain entry-level employment and advance in their chosen profession.

It is the students responsibility to read the skills that will be covered before attending class and come prepared with required equipment and any questions about the material

Assignments have due dates that must be met, you can not wait until the last minuet to do your work,

If you don’t understand an assignment or are having difficultly understanding the material you must contact the instructor!

All skills must be met at a satisfactory level prior to the student proceeding on to their clinical rotations

Grading Criteria

There will be no rounding in this class

No grades will be dropped

Grade of 90 to 100  is "A"

Grade of 80 to 89.9 is "B"

Grade of 70 to 79.9 is "C"

Grade of 69.9 and below is "F"

 

Attendance 30%

Skills 45 %

Final Skills Exam 25%

 

Attendance

Every student is expected to be present and on time every day. Class starts promptly at the assigned time. Students are expected to come to class prepared for the skills being covered on that day.

Due to the fact that this is a short fast pace course attendance is critical 

Attendance is worth 30% of your grade
