Course Description
An intermediate course in layout and fabrication. Includes design and production of shop layout and fabrication. Emphasis placed on symbols, blueprints, written specification and pattern development. Â

Layout and Fabrication
- Read a steel rule/tape measure accurately.
- Apply math where needed.
- Know and apply geometric construction principles.
- Know and draw orthographic projections.
- Use orthographic projections to develop templates for pipe intersections (fittings).
- Understand the safe use of steel cutting and welding equipment.
- Fabricate pipe intersections and fittings from templates using oxyacetylene torches, angle grinders, and SMAW welders.

Assigned written material from the textbook appropriate to each day's classroom and shop projects is to be completed prior to class time. Tests 2 and 3 will be over the assigned material.

\ Attendance and participation in class and lab is regarded as a requirement and an obligation for learning practice oriented disciplines. Students are responsible for participating in an attendance record management system as designated by the instructor. Attendance / participation grade points may also reflect homework; class preparation; punctuality; housekeeping; proper dress; and required equipment, supplies, and text.

Class 4: Mitered fittings; 2-piece and multi-piece 90 degree ells

Class 6: Mitered fittings; Wyes and crosses; 90 degree and odd angles
Class 7: Saddle fittings; concentric, 90 degree and odd angles

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THE AMARILLO COLLEGE TECHNICAL EDUCATION CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. COMPLIANCE WITH THE CODE IS MANDATORY FOR CLASS PARTICIPATION.
