Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Student Performance

The student will compose and produce effective business communications appropriate to industry needs; apply critical evaluation techniques to business communications; and recognize the importance of coherent, ethical communication principles in business and industry.

The student will be able to do the following after completing this course:

  1. Compose and produce on a computer, the proper response, as determined by the reader, when given a particular writing problem or assignment.
  2. Key all assignments in mailable office production style, using proper form, placement, English, punctuation, and spelling.

END-OF-COURSE OUTCOMES:  Create effective business documents; evaluate business documents; and apply ethical communication practices.

GRADING SCALE:  90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F 

80% - Approximately 10 writing project grades and lab assignments
 20% - Final examination (written comprehensive test)

100% - Final Course Grade

Attendance

Since this is an online course, attendance is not recorded.  You are expected to invest approximately the same time as a traditional, seated class.
