Students Rights and Responsibilities

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Log in using the AC Connect Portal

In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

Students are expected to behave in the classroom in a manner that is supportive of the learning environment. Behaviors that are not supportive include but are not limited to: tardiness/leaving early, electronic device noises, talking during lecture, abusive, offensive, or disrespectful language and/or demeanor toward AC faculty, staff, students and/or property.

Talking during lecture, even when it applies to the subject, keeps other students from hearing the lecture. If another student asks you a question, please interrupt the instructor and let them explain. Chances are others have the same question.

In order to receive credit for a course, all material listed on the syllabus (which is mandated by the state) must be covered. The instructor sets the pace to ensure that these requirements are met.

Students who fail to comply with the standards outlined in the syllabus and/or "Student Rights & Responsibilities" will be subject to disciplinary action which may include but is not limited to; removal from the classroom, consultation with department chair and/or other AC authority, withdrawal from the course and/or the college.

Cheating of any sort will not be tolerated and will result in a grade of zero on the test, quiz or homework in question with no chance of dropping that grade.

Grading Criteria

GRADING CRITERIA/GRADE SCALE:
The final grades of A (90 – 100), B (80 – 89), C (70 – 79), D (60 – 69), and F (below 60) will be computed as the average of the earned grades from:

Homework 15%, Chapter Tests 60%, Attendance 5%, Final Exam 20%.

Tentatively, five (5) tests and a comprehensive final will be given during the semester.

Test Corrections:  Students scoring below a 70 on any chapter test will be required to turn in corrections to that test for no credit.  Students may go to the Outreach Center to work on the corrections; students may also go to the instructor's office for help.

Test Reflections:  Each student will complete a test reflection for each chapter test.  Guidelines will be supplied by the instructor.

Make-up tests will not be given. If a test is missed, the grade will be replaced with the score you make on the final exam. (If you do not miss any chapter tests during the semester, I will replace your lowest chapter test grade with the grade you make on the final exam, provided the grade on the final is higher than the lowest chapter test grade.)

Homework will be assigned and graded.

I do not give extra credit work.

.
