Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Student Performance

(minimum competencies) After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program.
Upon completion of PHRA 1143, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify drug names, interactions, side effects, and dosages
  2. Perform pharmaceutical calculations
  3. Explain aseptic techniques
  4. Apply Federal law concepts to the tasks and duties of pharmacists and technicians in the practice of pharmacy
  5. Review materials pertaining to assisting the pharmacist in serving the patient
  6. Review materials regarding maintaining medication and inventory management
  7. Review materials concerning participating in the administration and management of pharmacy practice
  8. Take PTCB national certification exam

Expected Student Behavior

Adult, professional behavior is expected at all times.
Academic dishonesty will result in a final grade of "F" for the course. Any attempt to cheat will be considered as academic dishonesty and will result in a final grade of “F” for the course.

Grading Criteria

The final course grade will be computed as follows:
*The average of practice exams =30

*Average of Skills Quizzes=20

*Final Exam=50


The following grade scale applies:
A = 95-100%
B = 85-94%
C = 75-84%
F = Less than 75%

Students will not be allowed to make-up exams, homework, or quizzes. The student will receive a grade of ZERO for anything missed.
**With regard to exams only, the instructor will consider only written petitions for emergency situations and undue hardships on an individual basis. The decision of the instructor to accept or reject the petition is final. The process must be initiated by the student and occur within 48 hours of the missed class period.
