Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Supplies

CLINICAL DRESS POLICY

The Student Uniform will be:

  • Royal blue Landau® or Urbane® uniform jacket

and pants (jacket sleeves may be short, ¾, or long).

  • Royal blue Landau® scrub top (women’s # 8219, men’s #7489)
  • Clean and neatly pressed, and well fitting.  Pants may not drag the floor.
  • White socks above the ankle or hose with pants.
  • Solid white nursing shoes or solid white leather athletic shoes.

 

      The Student Uniform should not include:

  • Uniform that is too baggy or too tight.
  • Uniform pants made of knit material.
  • Uniform pants that are bound at the ankle by knit or elastic.
  • Underwear that is visible or thong underwear.
  • High top tennis shoes, clogs, sandals, open toes or backless shoes.

Note: Any fingernail polish that is worn must be clear.

  • Satisfactory achievement of the Clinical Performance Evaluation of Competency (CPEC).
  • 100% attendance in clinical
  • Satisfactory completion of clinical simulations.

Grading Criteria

GRADING CRITERIA:

The following criteria and grading scale will be used to determine the clinical grade:

  • Clinical Performance Score (CPEC)           100%

 

Grades will be assigned based on total scores of:

            A=       90-100

            B=       80-89

            C=       75-79.9 **Effective May 18, 2014

            D=       60-74

* Grades will not be rounded.

According to the Academic Progression and Graduation Requirements for All Students, “a student may repeat any nursing course or combination of concurrently enrolled nursing courses (class and concurrent clinical course) one time only…Students may not repeat a course more than once or continue with more than two strikes or course combination in total while enrolled in the program.  The term ‘repeat’ shall be interpreted to mean re-enrollment following withdrawal, audit, drop, or unsatisfactory grade.”  Amarillo College ADN Student Handbook 2016.
