ITCC-1301-001 Cisco Exploration I - Network Fundamentals
A course introducing the architecture, structure, functions, components and models of the internet. Describes the use of OSI and TCP layered models to examine the nature and roles of protocols and services at the applications, network, data link and physical layers. Covers the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media and operations. Build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling; perform basic configurations of network devices, including routers and switches; and implementing IP addressing schemes.

All work (except for the Final Exam) is provided for each student at the beginning of the semester. It is your responsibility to ensure all work is completed by the scheduled dates.
The purpose of this course is to prepare students to successfully pass the CompTIA Network + certification – successfully taking the Comptia N10-006 exam prior to the Final Exam can be used as a replacement grade for the Final Exam. Passing the exams will be considered sufficient demonstration of course concepts and mastery.
** This is an accelerated 8 week course and requires substantial work outside of class.

The weeks chapter work including tests, in-class labs, and other assigned materials are due by Midnight on the day prior to the next class meeting. Late work will be assessed a 5 point penalty for every late day. A “Zero” will be recorded in the grade book for any assignment more than a week late!
