DFTG-1345-001 Parametric Modeling and Design
Prerequisite: DFTG 1370 or instructor consent
Parametric-based design software for mechanical assembly design and drafting.

1 - Identify the standard views in a 3d design file.
2 - Explain display depth and avtive depth settings.
3 - Explain the ACS Plane lock and ACS Plane Snap lock settings.
4 - Alter the orientation of the AccuDraw compass plane using Accudraw shortcut key-ins.
5 - Create and use new Auxilliary Coordinate Systems.
6 - Create solid entities with the Extrude tool.
7 - Create composite solids with the Construct Union, Construct Intersection, and Construct Difference tools.
8 - Create solid entities with the primitive creation tools.
9 - Modify solid entities with the Cut Solid and Fillet Edges tools.
10 - Use the Drawing Composition tools to create sheet models and reference in scaled views of a solid design model.
11 - Modify solid entities with the Modify Solid Entity and Create Region tools.
12 - Use the Group Holes tool to define solid and hole shapes.
13 - Create section objects using the fence clip method.
14 - Create a section using the Section Generation utility.
15 - Create B-Spline curves as sections to use with the Constrcut Surface by Section tool.
16 - Join surfaces using the Construct Stitch tool.
17 - Cut a surface using the Project Trim tool.
18 - Modify solids using the Shell Solid, Loft Block to Circle, Draw on Solid, Delete Solid Entity, Taper Solid, and Chamfer Edges tools.

It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures. Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.
Any student who, because of a disabling condition, may require some special arrangements in order to meet course requirements should contact the Student Service Center room 119, phone 371-5436 as soon as possible.
A - 89.5 and above
B - 79.5 to 89.4
C - 69.5 to 79.4
D - 59.5 to 69.4
F - 59.4 and below
The final grade will be computed as follows:
Students will be given assignments each class that include both written and drawing tasks. Written assignments must be printed from a word processor. Late assignments will be lowered ten points. Assignments later than one week from their due date will assigned a zero.
Students will be given three objective exams on the computer and three drawing projects. Exam make-ups should be approved ahead of the exam date by the instructor. Unexcused make-up exams will be written exams and must be completed within one week of the scheduled exam. Late projects will be lowered ten points and projects will not be accepted after one week from their due date. The final exam is optional.
Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Attendance is monitored. If a class is missed, it is the student's responsibility to determine what may have been missed and take appropriate action.
