Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

2.     Demonstrate ability to analyze and critique verbal and nonverbal interactions in mediated and face-to-face contexts.

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

  • No administrative withdrawals will be initiated by the instructor. It is the responsibility of the student to withdraw before the deadline.

Online etiquette is expected from every student.

Student email should be checked on a daily basis, if not more, to ensure proper instruction.  Emails from the instructor can be critical to the course.

Any papers turned in late will not be accepted except for emergency or pre authorized situations

Discussions after the due date can not be made up.

All exams have a lengthy time that they can be taken.  There will be no make up exams.

Attendance

Because this is an online course, attendance is not necessary.  However it is recommended that each student spend approximately one to two hours a day Eight week courses will take much more time than the 16 week courses.

  Discussion Forums are a large part of this class.  It is necessary to check and read all discussion postings during the course.  Assigned discussions will have a weekly due date and will disappear after that due dat.  You must reply to at least one student in the discussion forums.
