Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Diagnosis and repair of emission systems, computerized engine performance systems and advanced ignition and fuel systems. Includes use of advanced engine performance diagnostic equipment. May be taught manufacturer specific.

Student Performance

End-of-Course Outcomes: Diagnose and repair emission control systems, computerized engine performance systems, and advanced ignition and fuel systems; and use advanced engine performance diagnostic equipment.

 

NATEF Course Objectives:

  • Retrieve and record diagnostic trouble codes, OBD monitor status, and freeze frame data; clear codes when applicable.
  • Access and use service information to perform step-by-step (troubleshooting) diagnosis.
  • Describe the importance of running all OBDII monitors for repair verification.
  • Diagnose the causes of emissions or driveability concerns with stored or active diagnostic trouble codes; obtain, graph, and interpret scan tool data.
  • Diagnose emissions or driveability concerns without stored diagnostic trouble codes; determine necessary action.
  • Inspect and test crankshaft and camshaft position sensor(s); perform necessary action.
  • Inspect and test components and hoses of the evaporative emissions control system; perform necessary action.

Expected Student Behavior

Cell phone or electronic equipment in the classroom or lab should be put on silent and not interfere with the classroom environment.

You are expected to work in groups and work well with others as you would do in a real world setting.

Students will be expected to respect others tools and equipment.

Theft of, or intentional damage to Amarillo Colleges tools and equipment can result in immediate dismissal from class and possible criminal charges.

Students will be expected to clean up their own mess, no exceptions.

Students will be required to maintain a clean and organized work area.

B = 79.5-89.4

C = 69.5-79.4

D = 59.5-69.4

F = 0-59.4

Late work will be accepted with a deduction of 30 points no later than three days after due date.

Attendance

You are expected to attend all class meetings on time and stay for the whole class. Points will be deducted from your attendance and participation for not complying.

Three tardies ( more than ten minutes after the start of class or leaving before class is concluded) equal an absence.

Ten points will be deducted from your final grade for each absence.

Students are required to comply with the Amarillo College Technical Education Code of Professional Conduct. The Amarillo College Technical Education Code of Professional Conduct will be posted on the bulletin board in the Transportation Career Center and the Academic Classroom Center and will be explained in detail by the Instructor on the first day of class.
