Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

FIRT-2305-001 Fire Instructor I

Prerequisites

Course Description

Preparation of fire and emergency services personnel to deliver instruction from a prepared lesson plan. Includes the use of instructional aids and evaluation instruments to meet the Texas Commission on Fire Protection requirements for Fire Instructor I certification.

Student Performance

 This course meets the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) professional qualifications standard 1041 for Fire Instructor 1, and the qualifications for Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Instructor 1 certification.  Upon completion of this course, the student will be allowed to take the TCFP state certification exam.  Please see the curriculum manual for applicable content and skill standards.   http://www.tcfp.texas.gov/manuals/curriculum_manual/chapter_8.pdf

Students are to read the Amarillo College "Student Rights and Responsibilities" handouthttp://catalog.actx.edu/content.php?catoid=7&navoid=291 with emphasis placed on the Academic Information, Student Conduct and Responsibilities, and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Education/Prevention Program sections.
 

Grading Criteria

 Grades will be calculated on a percentage basis as follows:

A      > 89.5%

B      > 79.5%

C      > 69.5%

D       > 59.5

F        < 59

Attendance

 Satisfactory completion of all modules, test, and skills is necessary for the student to be awarded a certificaticate of completion.  You must have this certificate to be able to test for the state Fire Instructor 1 certification.

Calendar

Course start date is May 24th 1800 hours room 104, PSTC on east campus 

Skills testing and final exam will be on July 20th  2017   1800 PSTC 104

An Additional night will be needed to complete this course  (June 29th 1800)

The STATE Written test will be on July 25th at 900 on the Washington Street testing center

Additional Information

 Course must be completed by ending date.  There will not be any make-up or extensions given.
