Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

• consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
• consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
• consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
• consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
  • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

All exams, discussions, assignment papers will be submitted through Blackboard online.  No emailed assignments will be accepted.

All Revel assignments will be done online through the Pearson Revel link so the access card must be purchased or the text book must be acquired from the Washington Street Bookstore which includes the Pearson Revel access card

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

• No administrative withdrawals will be initiated by the instructor after the last day to withdraw

• Online etiquette and courtesy is expected from all students.  Any discussions, emails, or assignments that do not follow the courtesy and etiquette expectations may result is dismissal

• If you do not have a sense of humor, it is suggested that you find a different speech class that uses no humor.  If you are sensitive and may easily get your feelings hurt, you may want to find a different speech class that has a safe place in it where you can hide.  This one does not.  Be ready for it.  Brace yourselves, and have fun.

Any papers turned in late will not be accepted.

Discussions after the due date can not be made up.

All exams have a lengthy time that they can be taken.  There will be no make up exams.

Attendance

Because this is an online course, attendance is not necessary.  However it is recommended that each student check the online course at least 4 to 5 times a week.  

  Discussion Forums are a large part of this class.  It is necessary to check and read all discussion postings during the course.  You must reply to at least one student in the discussion forums.  The forums are all due on the Saturday at the end of the week unless notified differently.  Once the due date has passed the discussion forums close and no more posts or replies will be allowed.
