By the end of the course, the student will be able to satisfactorily complete the learning objectives stated in Student Performance/Learning Objectives above with a minimum of 60% competency level based on completion of the exams, projects, and assignments administered under the supervision of the instructor.
In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .

GENERAL:
This class is being conducted in an online format. Our communication will be completed primarily through our course email and discussion forums. This is a different setting from the traditional classroom-based lecture course; nevertheless, I expect each student to conduct him/herself in the most professional manner. Disrespect for any person, such as personal attacks in weekly comments or simply being rude toward fellow classmates or the instructor, will not be tolerated. (You need to start practicing good, professional interpersonal communication for your future career is extremely dependent upon dealing with many different people in many different and possibly difficult situations...all of which must be handled PROFESSIONALLY. Start that practice here in our class with your professor and classmates.)
RESPONSE TIME: I will do my best to get to your email/questions as soon as I possibly can, usually within the day. Please use the subject line of your email to let me know what your email is in reference to AND your section number. This helps me tremendously in handling email which is most emergent first and in finding you. Know that at times I can respond to a GroupME text when I can't get to email or the phone, making GroupMe a good method of communication for us. Also please remember, especially at the first and last of the semester, there are a few of you...only one of me!
TESTING:
* GROUP TESTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. With computer reports and tracking, there are methods by which this practice can be detected. I have in the past and will obtain testing data should I suspect group test taking. I would ask you to consider the kind of health care professional you want caring for you or your loved ones (child, husband, wife, parents, grandparents). One who cheated his/her way through classes?
If it becomes apparent to me that you are collaborating on tests in this class, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken including possibility of the following: your receiving an "F" in this class, and being dropped from the course with no refund of monies, an appearance in front of your professor and AC's Disciplinary Committee, and/or possible suspension from AC for the current term or longer. See AC's Student Rights and Responsibilities a copy of which can be obtained by asking at any AC Assistance Center or online see Forms and Policies.
There will be 8 tests. Remaining grades will come from the Getting Started Assignment, Mindtap activities, "Super Size Me" video assignment, "The Doctor" video assignment, and Simulation Experience project/paper. Your course grade will be the average of tests, projects, and assignments.
89.5 - 100 = A
79.5 - 89.4 = B
69.5 - 79.4 = C
59.5 - 69.4 = D
59.4 or below = F
Make up tests are allowed at the professor's discretion. Arrangements for such make up exams must be made with the professor.
DROP DATE: The last date to drop this semester is July 18, 2017. Dropping or withdrawing from a class may affect scholarships or financial aid, so check with a financial aid counselor or an advisor before you drop or withdraw from any class.
