United Supermarkets & Kellanova to Donate $10,000 to AC’s Food Pantry
United Supermarkets and Kellanova will present Amarillo College with a $10,000 donation to support its on-campus food pantry on at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the Ware Student Commons on Amarillo College’s Washington Street Campus.
The donation will benefit the Amarillo College Food Pantry and Advocacy & Resource Center (ARC) Services, which provide non-perishable food, toiletries, and essential supplies to any currently enrolled AC students or employees in need. Recipients can access the pantry twice a month.
This donation is part of Kellanova’s Better Days Promise, the company’s mission to advance sustainable and equitable access to food. Through products like Eggo® and Rice Krispies Treats®, Kellanova empowers retailers such as United Supermarkets to give back to local communities. As part of the event, AC students from the Blue Blazers organization will hand out Rice Krispies Treats, courtesy of Kellanova.
“We are so grateful for United Supermarkets and Kellanova for their support,” said Jordan Herrera, AC director of social services. “Their generosity will help us continue meeting the essential needs of our students so they can focus on achieving their educational goals.”
The donation includes:
- 32 gift cards valued at $250 each ($8,000 total) to help stock the food pantry with essential supplies.
- 80 gift cards valued at $25 each ($2,000 total) for students to use for groceries, hygiene products, gas, and other necessities.
“We are proud to partner with our friends at Kellanova to support hunger programs in our communities,” said Travis Chaney, regional vice president of The United Family. “The AC Pantry is an awesome program for students and staff at Amarillo College. We hope that these funds will have a positive impact on those across the campus who are in need."
