AC to Open Registration for Five Short-Term Workforce Training Programs Nov. 9
Registration opens Nov. 9 for five short-term workforce training programs at Amarillo College, with classes set to begin in January. The programs cover accounting, data analytics, data center operations, human resources and project management and are designed to help students and working professionals build marketable skills and prepare for industry-recognized certifications.
Program costs range from about $200-$257, and offerings are available in online and hybrid formats.
“These programs give students and working professionals an opportunity to build skills that employers need while preparing for industry-recognized certifications,” said Edie Carter, Amarillo College’s executive dean of STEM and Academic Success. “By expanding access to short-term training in business and technology, we’re helping more people take the next step in their careers and supporting the workforce needs of our region.”
The Five Programs Include
- Accounting Assistant OSA Exam Prep Program — $209: Provides hands-on experience in accounting, from foundational concepts to complex financial ratio calculations. Graduates will be prepared to support accounting teams in a variety of business settings and pursue additional certification or career advancement. The program is offered in a hybrid format.
- Business Intelligence Analyst Assistant OSA Exam Prep Program — $257: Prepares students to pursue industry-recognized data analytics certifications, validate their skills and strengthen their qualifications for career advancement. The program is offered online.
- Data Center Technician Program — $257: Introduces students to data center operations, including computer hardware installation, server organization, electrical and mechanical systems, and facility safety. Students gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintenance and the operation of infrastructure that supports digital services. The program is offered in a hybrid format.
- Human Resource Specialist OSA Exam Prep Program — $257: Helps entry-level human resources professionals with fewer than three years of experience in HR or management prepare to certify their skills, potentially opening doors to higher pay and promotions. The self-paced program includes six online class meetings with faculty.
- Project Management Prep Program — $209: Builds practical project management skills and prepares students to pursue the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification. The training provides a foundation for those interested in roles such as project coordinator or junior project manager. The program is offered in a hybrid format.
The TRUE Grant programs are structured as a three-course series, and students must complete all three courses in sequence. Registering for one course automatically adds the full series to the student's cart. Exam vouchers are included and provided upon successful completion of all three courses.
For Computer Information Systems courses, passing the applicable certification exams is also required for successful course completion and credit.
Amarillo College received the competitive $500,000 Texas Reskilling and Upskilling through Education (TRUE) Grant as part of a $9.9 million statewide investment announced by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The grant supports the creation, redesign and expansion of industry-aligned training programs that can be completed in six months or less.
