AC’s Information Technology Receives Top 20 Recognition

AwardThe Information Technology Division at Amarillo College has been recognized for the second time this year by a leading IT research company for exceptional stakeholder satisfaction.

Info-Tech Research Group, a research, consulting and advisory firm that serves more than 30,000 IT professionals worldwide, on Nov. 16 listed AC among its Top 20 best-performing technology leaders for 2015 and conferred upon AC a prestigious CIO Leadership Award.

Info-Tech’s data-driven selections are not exclusive to higher education – they are chosen industry-wide – and results are based on responses to stakeholder surveys. More than 43,000 business leaders were surveyed, and the Top 20 were those organizations placing in the 90th percentile of survey satisfaction.

AC received especially high marks for innovation and user satisfaction.

“My team is extremely honored to receive this gratifying recognition,” Lee Colaw, AC vice president of information technology, said. “We take great pride in providing a technology-oriented business vision in support of Amarillo College’s Strategic Plan.”

What Info-Tech’s survey showed was an IT Division at the College that has demonstrated successful innovations on a number of fronts, including seamless integration of the Ellucian computer system with Blackboard Learn to bolster student success, and the creation of an efficient self-service enrollment model for continuing education.

This is the second time in 2015 that AC’s IT Division has appeared in the Info-Tech spotlight. AC, back in January, was named an Info-Tech IT Leader of 2014.
