Training and Refresher Courses

 

Blackboard Essentials 

Description: Upon completing this course, participants will be able to login to AC Connect, open a Blackboard course, create announcements, use the course email client, create folders and rules in Outlook to redirect incoming emails into appropriate folders, link the course syllabus (stored in the AC Syllabus Mgr. program) to the Blackboard course, set up the course gradebook, archive the course, and submit final grades at the end of the semester.

Dates/Times: Open enrollment at any time until the end of each semester (see how to register at bottom of page)

Professional Learning points: Blackboard Essentials does not count towards the Professional Learning points or stipend.


Blackboard 101

Description: Blackboard 101 is a step-by-step hands-on tutorial to help AC students navigate the Blackboard system. In this course, students will learn to send email, download and upload documents, participate in a discussion board post, and take a Blackboard test. Some faculty have taken it in the past as well, and have said that it really helped them to understand the perspective of their students in navigating Blackboard.

There is also a section on the following tools available in Blackboard:

  • Library Tab
  • Student Tools Tab
  • AC Student Resources
  • Readspeaker/Text Aid Tool
  • My Survey Tool
  • My Grades

Blackboard ER is a come-and-go, no appointment necessary time for Blackboard assistance including but not limited to:

  • Gradebook assistance
  • Course copy
  • General troubleshooting
  • 1 on 1 training

Dates/Times: All sessions begin at 1pm 8/21/2020, 9/18/2020, 10/9/2020 (Week before finals), 11/20/2020, 12/11/2020 (Week before finals)

Location: Zoom link is in Blackboard on the My Institution page.

How to Register for Blackboard Training

  1. Go to https://acconnect.actx.edu/
  2. Under the Self-Service section, click WebAdvisor.
  3. Click WebAdvisor for Employees.
  4. In the upper right corner of the screen, click Log In.
  5. Log in with your ACNet ID and Password.
  6. Under Professional Development, click Register for Center for Teaching and Learning Classes.
  7. Click SUBMIT to access a list of courses being offered by CTL.
  8. Click the SELECT box to the left of the workshop for which you wish to register.
  9. Click SUBMIT again at the bottom of the page to finalize your selection(s).
