Jigsaw is an interactive and collaborative strategy to use with reading passages. It allows every student to become an expert in a smaller section of reading.
Use this strategy to divide and conquer large or content dense reading passages. Use this Jigsaw form for each student.
Divide a portion of reading into smaller sections. Give each student a section of the reading along with this template. Each student will become an expert on their section. When class meets again you will put one student from each section together in a group and they will share the information they learned and add new information from the other readings to their form. By the end of class, each student will have the main ideas from all reading sections.
