Our student clinicians, under the supervision of licensed dental professionals, offer comprehensive cleanings, oral health screenings, and personalized education to help you maintain a healthy smile.

Preventive Services

  • Teeth Cleaning & Polishing (Dental Prophylaxis) – Removes plaque and stains for a healthier smile
  • Topical Fluoride Applications – Strengthens enamel and prevents cavities
  • Dental Sealants – Protective coatings to prevent decay in deep grooves of teeth

Gum Health Services

  • Deep Cleaning (Scaling & Root Planing) – Helps treat and prevent gum disease
  • Periodontal Maintenance Therapy – Ongoing care for patients with a history of gum disease

Patient Education & Wellness

  • Medical History Review & Vitals Check – Ensures safe and personalized care
  • Nutritional Counseling & Tobacco Cessation – Guidance for better oral health habits

NOTE: We do not provide restorative procedures like fillings or extractions. Our services focus on preventive and periodontal care.

Student Learning & Supervision

The Amarillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic is an integral part of our dental hygiene education program. All treatments are provided by student clinicians who are extensively trained and supervised by licensed dentists and faculty members.

Appointment Process

Standard Procedures

  • Screening Appointment (1-2 hours) – Includes medical history review, x-rays, and an exam ($35 fee).
  • Cleaning Appointments (1-5 visits) – Each session lasts 3-4 hours due to the educational nature of our clinic.

Additional & Optional Procedures

  • Deep Cleaning (if needed) – Additional $35 fee, scheduled in multiple sessions.
  • Sealants (optional) – $5 per sealant, applied as needed.

Payment Options

Credit/Debit Card & Cash (No dental insurance accepted).

Office Hours

Clinic hours vary by semester. Our dental hygiene students rotate between clinic and classroom learning. This means the clinic is not always open. 

If you reach voicemail, please leave a message with your name and number, and we will return your call on the next business day. 

Please keep in mind, we are closed when the college is closed, including holidays and breaks.

Appointments & Fees

The initial screening appointment is $35 (includes x-rays & exam). Deep cleanings require an additional $35 fee.

No, but you can request an itemized receipt to submit for reimbursement.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Treatments & Services

No, we provide preventive care only. You’ll need to see a dentist for those procedures.

Yes, we accept patients ages 4 and up.

Each appointment is about 3-4 hours. Patients should be prepared for multiple visits.

Clinic Policies

No, children cannot wait in the clinic unattended.

Yes. Bring an accurate list of medications and dosages.

We do our best to return all calls within 24 hours during the week. Please keep in mind that our clinic operates on a college schedule, so students and faculty are not in the clinic every day. During breaks between semesters or holidays, response times may be a bit longer. We appreciate your patience and want you to know that your call is important to us—we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
