EMT Certificate (Major Code: CE.EMSP)

This program is designed for students who wish to earn a Certificate of Completion in addition to completing the didactic, clinical and field internship requirements for certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as an EMT. Successful completion also meets eligibility requirements for the National Registry of EMTs EMT examination process.

A grade of C or higher is required for satisfactory completion of all courses in this curriculum.

These courses are open enrollment. No application is needed. As such, students may enroll during Amarillo College's Continuing Education enrollment periods (see link below). However, students seeking entry into the advanced EMSP program (AEMT and/or Paramedic) must file a specific program application and complete additional admission procedures as required.

Note: Students who may later choose to seek higher levels of EMS certification are better advised not to enroll in these courses but in the EMT Certificate (EMSP.MKT) courses instead.

Highly Recommended: Reading Techniques II - minimum grade of "C" or a college-level score on the TSI Language exam. For more information about the TSI exam, contact the Testing Center (806-371-5445)

Course schedules can be found at www.actx.edu/ce during each semester's registration period.
