The study of humanities helps students understand themselves and the changing world by experiencing various points-of-view through the creative arts. The humanities will allow students to recognize, clarify and appreciate the importance of their own personal values while acknowledging a global perspective regarding other cultural achievements. By comparing and contrasting today’s visual and performing arts along with experiencing creative works from the past, students will develop tools for critical analysis which can be useful in other areas of study. Courses in the humanities allow an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the differences between world cultures through the examination of creative works.
