How Long Does it Take?

Earn your Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in as little as 2 years

Our program is a 22-month, 5-semester program. At the end, graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree, and are eligible for certification.

Students in the program participate in practicums, or hands-on training, in clinical laboratories within the city of Amarillo and in other towns and throughout the Texas Panhandle. Due to the limited number of clinical sites, the maximum enrollment in our program cannot exceed 20 students per year. Students are required to successfully complete their classroom instruction and practicum prior to graduation.

Each new class begins once a year at the beginning of the Fall semester. Twenty students are accepted per year. (See Steps to Apply to Our Program). Applications are accepted beginning Sept 1st of each year. However, students are encouraged to submit their applications early, in order to ensure consideration for admission into the class beginning the following year.
