AC and Window on a Wider World Present Holiday Concerts

Amarillo College in partnership with Window on a Wider World, will present a series of holiday concerts for pre-K through 6th grade students across the Texas Panhandle on Friday, Dec. 5 with performances at 9 a.m. 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The concerts will take place in the intimate Amarillo College Concert Hall Theater designed by famed architect Edward Durrell Stone.

Each year, multiple schools participate in this educational arts experience, with attendance typically ranging from 450 to 600 students.

“We are grateful for our long-standing partnership with Window on a Wider World, which allows us to bring high-quality arts experiences to students across the Panhandle,” said Camille Day Nies, professor of music and chair of the Department of Music and Theatre. “Introducing children to live music at an early age helps spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.”

The concerts will feature performances by Mariachi AC and other AC music students, showcasing festive holiday music while introducing young audiences to key musical concepts. Students will learn about musical form, dynamics, and meter, and will also have opportunities to listen actively, conduct, and sing along with the performers.

These concerts highlight AC’s commitment to arts education and meaningful community engagement, offering students a memorable and enriching introduction to music in a professional performance setting.
