Texas Builders Foundation awards scholarship to AC construction major

The Amarillo College Construction Technology Program is pleased to announce that one of its talented students, Jacques Rukundo, has received a $2,000 academic scholarship from the Texas Builders Foundation.

Rukundo, who is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, is in his second year as a construction technology major at AC. Married and the father of five children, he will receive the monetary award in two increments – $1,000 for the fall 2023 semester, and $1,000 for the spring 2024 semester.

AC’s Brandon Martinez awarded a $1,300 SkillsUSA Leverage Scholarship

One of two students who in April were tabbed to represent Amarillo College in the SkillsUSA Texas Ambassador Fellowship Program, just received an additional award, one of only four presented to SkillsUSA members nationwide.

Brandon Martinez, a construction technology major, is the recipient of a prestigious $1,300 Leverage Scholarship, funds generously contributed by Robert L. Flint, a former Caterpillar executive and longtime SkillsUSA supporter.

High school students to compete in Top of Texas Contest & Expo at AC

High school students from throughout the Texas Panhandle are expected to converge on Amarillo College’s East Campus to showcase their work and compete for prizes at the Top of Texas Career & Technical Education Expo.

The event is Tuesday and Wednesday, April 25-26. The East Campus (view map) is located at 1401 J Ave.

Two AC students chosen to serve as SkillsUSA Texas Ambassadors

The Construction Technology Program at Amarillo College is pleased to announce that two of its high-achieving students have been selected to participate in the 2023 SkillsUSA Texas Ambassador Fellowship Program.

Additionally, those two students – Vania Esparza and Brandon Martinez Olvera – will be among a contingent of 30 AC students who will take part in the SkillsUSA state competition April 14-15 in Houston.
