Amarillo College to Host Bilingual Children’s Book Event in Hereford

Amarillo College will host One Story, Two Languages, Three Books (Un Cuento, Dos Idiomas, Tres Libros), a family-friendly event celebrating literacy, bilingual storytelling and community, from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the college’s Hereford Campus.

The event will feature a bilingual reading of Azarah and Baldur: Courageous/Valiente with author J. Eric Dennis and translator Anna I. Rodriquez, followed by a question-and-answer session. Families also can enjoy free refreshments and activities, and each child will receive a free book.

“Reading opens doors for children, and sharing stories across languages helps families connect with one another and their community,” said Robert Fulton, Amarillo College associate professor of humanities. “We hope this event encourages young readers and gives families an opportunity to experience the joy of reading together.”

Centered on the theme of growing readers while growing communities, one book at a time, the event aims to encourage a love of reading while celebrating the connections stories can create across languages and generations.

The event will take place at Amarillo College’s Everett and Mabel McDougal Hinkson Memorial Campus, 1115 W. 15th St. in Hereford.

The event is made possible with special support from Amarillo College and the Amarillo College Foundation.
