Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) MCHN-2303-001 Fundamentals of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machine Controls

Prerequisites

Prerequisite: MCHN 2345 - minimum grade of C

Course Description

Programming and operation of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine shop equipment. An introduction to G and M codes (RS274-D) necessary to program Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines.

End-of-Course Outcomes:  Write, edit and apply basic knowledge of CNC programs; select the appropriate feeds and speeds for various materials; and select the appropriate tooling.

Grading Criteria

 Course Evaluations:

4 Project Rubrics 40% of Final Grade

4 Homework Submissions 20% of Final Grade

16 Daily Rubrics 20% of Final Grade.

1 Final Exam 20% of Final Grade

Homework/Quizzes and Final

Workbook/Homework will be assigned from each chapter covered in the textbook.These homework assignments will be turned in to the instructor at the beginning of first class period of that week, failure to have daily homework complete will result in that student not being allowed in lab until homework is complete it will also result in the student fore fitting that days lab grade.  Each session is subject to a Quiz covering both materials covered in that chapter and previous materials covered. 

Claasroom Discussion: Each class will begin with a discussion of the homework assignment, come prepared as discussions will be assigned a grade.

Final: A comprehensive final will be given. 

Attendance

  Attendance in class and lab participation is regarded as a requirement and an obligation for learning. Students will be expected to be in the class and seated by the start of each class period.Attendance roll will be called out at the beginning of the class and students not replying will be recorded as tardy losing ten attendance points.Roll will again called one-half hour after class has started, any student not replying will be recorded as absent and lose all points for that day.There are times that special circumstances arise,your instructor needs to be made aware of these circumstances, and the instructor will then decide if excuse warrants merit or not. Attendance will also means that until the end of class or instructor releases the class you are required to be there failure to be present during end of class roll will result in all points for that day being forfeited, again there will be times that special circumstances arise, and your instructor needs to be informed of the need, and then instructor will decide whether reason for leaving early is valid or not. Attendance also means that student has all the required material for said class, failure to comply with this is described in the below section describing student behavior.
